Thx for the insight. Received a Xbox for Christmas that I don't really want. I don't really need/want a PS3 as I do my gaming on PC and they aren't cheap. Am trying to decided if I want to swap the xbox for a PS3 in large part for the Blueray. Or just take the cash from the xbox and look for something else to buy.

It is the sharpness and depth of field (especially the depth of field) that has blown me away with Blu-Ray. While I don't like the hefty prices associated with Blu-Ray, I must admit that when it comes to movies that have blown me away in terms of content, sound, and visual then yeah, I will be tempted to buy the Blu-Ray over the DVD version.

I have heard that some people don't like the clarity you get with people's faces. Such as being able to see defects, wrinkles, etc. They say it distracting but that doesn't seem to bother me. It's like seeing the world in crystal clear vision in such a way that might, in some cases, be better than if you were in the same room viewing the person with your naked eye.

One thing I am curious about is whether I will re-buy classics. I'm thinking it would be nice to have Lawrence of Arabia, Lord of the Rings, The Godfather series, etc. I have switched my Netflix queue to Blu-Ray so making those A-B comparisons will be easy if I so choose.

Playing games is another "wow" moment. I've been enjoying LittleBigPlanet in 720p. Looking forward to Metal Gear Solid in 1080p soon. Played the Dead Space demo (also 720p I think) and that was amazing. Talk about scary, oh yeah! Makes it hard to pick up any other gaming system after having at amazing experience at those resolutions. I need to double check the resolution I'm getting when I sign into the Playstation Home network but that also looks amazing on the big screen as well.
