I'd recommend joining in the discussions on AVSForum.com where there are many, many people sharing their experiences with the various brands of projectors.

My room is a dedicated theater - with 100% light control. The Epson is one of the brighter 1080p projectors, but considering your comparison is a 24" display now (likely an LCD panel) - the Epson will not be nearly that bright.

One feasible option is to invest in some better window coverings. Drapes lined with black-out cloth are a cost effective solution.

I do plan to continue to document the various tweaks etc, that I apply to this projector.

Thanks for your posting, I'm seriously thinking about this projector (upgrading from a 24" 1080p set and I do worry about just how little ambient light there can be in a room.

I'm planning to fill a very narrow room that has regular sized windows that just have window blinds to cover the light. Being winter projector experience will be optimized but I worry in the summer when light goes into the far evening that the light from the outside will wash out the details of the picture.

Do you have ambient light issues or are you in a well light sheltered room?

I'm also wondering about calibration, I'm hoping you will document this experience as well.
