List 1.1.0

April 23rd, 2006

“Yes, List is still supported” — This is a question I’ve answered many times over the last few years(!) since I updated the website.  I still get email on a regular basis asking me questions about the program.

I’ve now moved the List website from its old location at magma.ca to lowtek.ca.  This also has allowed me to move to a wordpress based site which will make updates much easier.  Hopefully this will result in the website staying a bit more current than one update every few years.

List 1.1.0 adds support for the 5way navigation that is used in current PalmOS devices.  My personal Palm device is an old PalmV so all of the testing has been done on the simulator.  The editing pages do not play nice with the  5way navigation (yet) and due to the switch in tooling I don’t support the other languages (at least not in this version).  Visit the download page to get List.

While I intend to continue to support List, I’m not sure that I’ll be adding very many features – if I add any at all.  I will continue to keep the simple and (hopefully) intuiative design, List will do what it does well on as many Palm devices as I can manage.

    Lifedrive.
I have run List 1.1.1 on my lifedrive and tried to get it to crash but it didn’t. Works great on my lifedrive with lots of other apps loaded as well. So it seems really stable on my device. But lifedrives are pretty bad for software conflicts so it may crash with other software configurations. Since it also seems to work on the TX it should be safe on the Lifedrive.
It is great ot have an old friend back. I have been a Palm power user since 1998 and have always had list on my Palms. Thanks for the update.

Is there anyway I can put the List databases on the SD card of my Tungsten E2, rather than having them stored on the internal memory?

    Thanks

List does not currently support SDCard storage (or any non-main memory storage). This is one of the wish-list features.

Any hope of getting this program for Pocket PC’s running Windows Mobile 5.0?

I had List on my old Palm and really miss it!

    Thanks.

Bummer Chuck, the PalmOS doesn’t have any recovery story that I know of. When you delete something, its gone.  The best practice is to regularly synchronize with your PC, which should have the happy side effect of creating a backup on the PC for you.

I learned the backup lesson the hard way, losing a 20Gig drive that was my webserver.  I’m now a lot more careful about backups.
